the winery
Winneck's PDO wines are a delicate balance of maturity, minerals and flavor.
In the heart of Wineck-Schlossberg Grand cru area, the vineyard has 11 hectares of vines around the Wineck castel spread over different municipalities, going from Katzenthal to Colmar, Kaysersberg.
The estate was founded in 1959 by André Spannagel (father of Vincent) who took over the vines from his father. The name SPANNAGEL has always been linked with the wine world, as the family tree traces it.
In 1995, Vincent decided to buy a plot in the 1er Grand Cru d'Alsace “Schlossberg”, which is located in the gorgeous town of Kaysersberg Vignoble.
Being as close as possible to the terroir requires, for winegrowers, a real collaboration with nature.
Stimulate the natural defenses of the vine, promote deep rooting of the roots or limit the use of inputs: in Alsace, organic farming, sustainable cultivation or biodynamics are common practices.
